Our Vision.

Kia ora and welcome to Big Street Bikers HQ.
We’re on a mission to enable more people to ride ebikes more often. We’re making this possible with a number of innovations that make ebiking more accessible, affordable and cool. Ultimately, we’re creating a network for happier, healthier, and carbon free urban living.

Our Story.

Founders Cleve Cameron, Andrew Charlesworth and Matt Weavers began their modeshift mission after wanting to find an affordable, accessible and scalable solution to the Auckland gridlock.
Launched in 2018 with the support of Mercury, Big Street Bikers offered ebikes on subscription at the Rechargery – the world’s first solar-powered service station for ebikes. They soon realised that a major barrier for people to switch to ebikes was the lack of convenient secure parking and low awareness of safe cycle routes. Combining these problems into one solution, Locky Docks were born: bringing together world leading micromobility infrastructure from Europe and the latest in digital outdoor media technology, to create a free public amenity.

The Locky Dock Network is built on unique partnerships with micromobility tech company Bikeep, seeding finance from Rotorua-based Iwi Tauhara North No.2 Trust, brand and energy partnership with Mercury, and urban mobility and media partnership with Waka Kotahi.

Our Electric Partner.

We’re stoked to have had the support of New Zealand’s most forward-thinking energy company Mercury. From our solar powered Rechargery to the roll out of the Locky Dock Network, Mercury have been there every step of the way helping us to make energy wonderful.

“As a cornerstone partner of Big Street Bikers, we’re excited to help get more Kiwis onto bikes and ebikes as the network expands.”
